Vernacular Records is proud to announce the launch of a new series called “Vernacular Fields”. In this series, we worked with an Armenian photographer, Sarkis Torossian, who did the visual. His work is not only about developing analogue photos of landscapes, there is whole transforming process of the image afterwards.

After developing, he digitalises the picture and modifies it to realise, by hand, monochromic prints on a drawing paper. The outcome is a unique visual on every print, worthy of a numerical paint. “Vernacular Fields” is about the work of a physical object on small series. The EP with a visual by Sarkis in a 10” format, a USB stick with the release and a digital file of the artwork, all inserted in a 10” vinyl cover. This will be limited to 20 editions, the EP will also be available in digital format.

In terms of music, the format is a 4 titles EP including a featuring with another Vernacular Records resident. This first series is opened by our resident Ashyl called “Polar Lights”. 4 tracks of “Epic Breakbeat”, thought as a journey around his universe, it includes a feat. With our resident Clery.

 Vernacular Records est fier de vous annoncer sa nouvelle série « Vernacular Fields ». Dans cette série, nous travaillons avec un photographe arménien, Sarkis Torossian, autour du visuel. Son travail ne consiste pas uniquement à la réalisation de photographie argentique de paysage, il y a tout un processus de transformation de l’image derrière.

Après la prise, il les numérise et les modifie pour enfin réaliser, à la main, des tirages monochromes sur papier à dessin. Le rendu est un visuel unique à chaque transfert, digne d’une peinture numérique. « Vernacular Fields » a pour vocation le travail de l’objet, le tout sur une petite série. Cet EP est accompagné d’un visuel en physique au format 10 pouces, d’une clef USB comprenant la sortie et le artwork en digital, le tout inséré dans une pochette de Vinyl cartonnée au format 10 pouces, en édition limitée à 20 exemplaires. L’EP sera également disponible en format digital.

Musicalement parlant, le format est un EP 4 titres, incluant un featuring avec un autre résident de Vernacular Records. Ainsi, nous ouvrons la série avec le premier EP de notre résident Ashyl appelé « Polar Lights ». 4 titres d’« Epic Breakbeat », conçus comme un voyage au sein de son univers, incluant un featuring avec Cléry, un autre de nos résident.
